The El Dorado County Department of Transportation announced the reopening of the Mosquito Bridge over the American River at noon Friday, Oct. 29.
The bridge has been closed to travel since Aug. 16, for a major retrofit and rehabilitation project. Repair costs for the project were $305,000, with $270,000 coming from the federal

Highway Bridge Program and $35,000 from state Regional Surface Transportation Program funds.
The project consisted of replacing deteriorated timber decking, deck supports and damaged truss members, minor support improvements and painting.
