I will be teaching Part Two of my class titled "You Deserve a Happy Life ... So Go For It!" Class topics will include how to create a friendly universe for yourself, how to improve your decision making skills, how not to allow external forces to control you. The Mother Lode Lions Club will present its annual Halloween party for the kids on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Mother Lode Lions Clara Scheiber Hall at the corner of Missouri Flat and Pleasant Valley roads in Diamond Springs. Free candy, games, hot dogs, prizes and a costume contest will be featured.

The Friends of the Cameron Park Airport have scheduled their third annual Airpark Holiday Boutique for Nov. 12 and 13 at 3239 Baron Court in the airpark in Cameron Park. On Friday, Nov. 12, the hours are 5 to 8 p.m. The hours for Saturday, Nov. 13, are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be numerous vendors, fine art, jewelry, holiday gifts for all ages and home decor. Guess what? The annual Apple Hill Harvest Run is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 7, at Para Vi Vineyards in Camino. This event will include an 8.5 mile run, a 3.5 mile run/walk and a half-mile kids' fun run. For registration costs, sponsoring information or any other information please visit applehillrun.org. Please bring an extra pair of socks to donate for needy families in the Camino area. Proceeds will benefit the students of Camino School.

The "Scare Away Hunger" program is sponsoring a haunted house on Oct. 29, 30 and 31, from dark till 11 p.m. at 1855 Delphina Court, just four blocks from the Cameron Park Library in Cameron Park. Donations of canned goods or money will cheerfully be accepted. All donations will benefit the Food Bank of El Dorado County.

A class titled “Baby Basics” is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. The class fee is $35. Scholarships are available to assist in paying class fees. The class will discuss basic newborn care for the infant’s first few weeks of life. On Saturday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the “Annual Fabulous Holiday Gift Boutique” will take place at the El Dorado Hills Library, 7455 Silva Valley Parkway, El Dorado Hills. Check out the crafts, jewelry, home décor, puppets, books and much more.

The Diamond Springs Art Association is presenting its annual Fall Art Show and Sale beginning Monday, Nov. 1, and running though Friday, Nov. 5. The art will be displayed at the El Dorado County Government Building B, 360 Fair Lane in Placerville, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Friday, when it will close at 3 p.m. Stop by and pick up an early Christmas present.

Once a month at various local restaurants, Snowline Hospice is partnering with the restaurant owners who donate a portion of their sales for the designated day to Snowline Hospice. The November "Dine Out for Hospice" event will be on Tuesday, Nov. 9, from 4 to 10 p.m. at Pete's Restaurant and Brewhouse, 2023 Vine Street in El Dorado Hills. The Placerville El Dorado County Parkinson's Disease Support Group will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Placerville Senior Center, 937 Spring St.in Placerville. Dr. Hassis, MD, neurologist, will speak on the topic of "Improving Your Quality of Life" for people who have Parkinson's Disease. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited.

On Nov. 8 at 11:15 a.m. the El Dorado West Republican Women Federated will have its luncheon meeting at Denny's Restaurant on Coach Lane in Cameron Park. The speaker, Rose Chilcoat, will discuss the Warriors Association, the association that helps military families in our community. There will also be a semi-annual boutique sale. All are invited.
