Union Mine volleyball romps over Galt
EL DORADO — It was business as usual Wednesday night for the Union Mine High volleyball team as it squared off against visiting Galt.
The Lady Diamondbacks, undefeated in the Sierra Valley Conference, were never challenged by the Warrriors, cruising to a 3-0 victory with scores of 25-7, 25-6 and 25-13.

outcome was clear early in the match. The D'backs jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the first set behind precise passes from Ciarra Slater, Savannah Rye, Malia Gonsales and Maddy Berridge to setter Logan Savidge, who distributed the ball to Mikayla Tucker, Jacqueline Swarbrick and Kaity Kime for easy kills.
Never losing focus despite the lack of competition the D'backs quickly put the first game in the books and continued to dominate in the second set. With Amy Pedretti inserted into the game, Union Mine rolled to another easy victory.
Union Mine coach Mike Yates shook up the lineup in the third game and the D'backs struggled at first before turning things around with the score at 13-11. Lea Howton, Savidge and Tucker turned up the heat and reeled off points to put the game and the match in the victory column.
Union Mine is now 10-0 in the SVC with arguably the two most competitive teams left to play in the regular season — Vista del Lago and El Dorado, which are both hoping to avenge earlier season losses to the D'backs.
The D'backs are on the road Monday against the Cougars and host the Eagles Wednesday for Senor Night.
